Why are retreats important for our wellness?
In just one month, Full Circle Studio will host our first ever retreat. So, why do we think that retreats are important?
“Retreat” comes from the Latin verb “to pull back.” A retreat is a place where you are able to draw back from your daily demands.
With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it can be difficult to allocate time for yourself, whether it be for exercise, meditation, prayer, relaxation, or anything else. Your daily lives require you to be the mother, father, sister, wife, husband, friend, lover.
On retreat you can drop all of the roles.
The purpose of a retreat is to temporarily leave behind the usual distractions for long enough to allow for relaxation, and for an inner change to occur. From this place, you gain a new perspective, you regroup and re-energize. One of the most valuable aspects of retreat is that by clearing your schedule, you open up the mental space needed to notice and to shift habitual patterns. By withdrawing from regular life, you are able to source all of the energy that is otherwise spread out in multiple directions. By dedicating time to You, it is possible to gather your forces and focus them on self development.
This gives you the freedom to recharge, relax and reflect… and find inspiration!
“Inspiration” translates as “to breathe into.” Breathe life into your life! Give yourself time to listen. Time to watch. Time to feel. Time to daydream…
A retreat is the perfect time to journal. Away from that daily routine and fully immersed in a serene environment, the mind clears and can begin sorting through thoughts and ideas in a way that’s not otherwise possible. By journaling, you’re more likely to take the experience home with you.
These restorative powers and new perspectives can guide you to create ongoing life changes. Establishing changes on a retreat makes them easier to retain. You go back home and re-establish your life in a new way. Life can take on a new shape.
